Why Become a Cataract Free America® Provider

Napoleon to Robert Fulton, Inventor of the Steam Ship

"What, sir, you would make a ship sail against the wind and currents by lighting a bonfire under her decks? I pray you excuse me. I have no time to listen to such nonsense."

In many ways, physician participation in Cataract Free America® is similar to this exchange between Bonaparte and Fulton. What was obvious to one was inconceivable to the other.

Most Referred Patients Pay In Full

Based upon previous program data, over 95% of patients referred through Cataract Free America® do not require the waiver of co-payment, primarily because they already have supplemental insurance that covers the normal out-of-pocket expenses or because they have the ability to pay your fees.

Participation in Cataract Free America® will:

  • Increase your volume of fully paying patients.

  • Dramatically increase conversions to premium intraocular lenses  including ReSTOR®, ReZoom®, and Crystalens®.

  • Provide needed care to the underserved of your community.

  • Inform all seniors in your community of services provided by you.

  • Increase awareness of you and your practice through direct mail.

  • Increase awareness of you and your practice through paid advertising.

  • Increase awareness of you and your practice through public relations.

  • Increase your Internet presence through published press releases.

You Limit Patient Quantity

You decide in advance how many patients you will accept who have Medicare only, Medicare plus supplemental insurance, or no insurance at all. You determine at the onset of participation what you are comfortable with donating.

We Advertise Cataract Free America®

With your underwriting, we

  • Mail a full color multiple-piece direct mail package describing the benefits of Cataract Free America® to every household in your defined community with at least one person over the age of 65. Think of the power of that message to thousands of the seniors you serve.

  • Purchase display advertising in senior oriented newspapers that serve your community.

We Promote Cataract Free America®

With your underwriting, we:

  • Send a general press release to all media serving your community, including information about you and your participation.

  • Publish a general press release on the Internet, including information about you and your participation.

  • Provide a targeted press release to senior service organizations and agencies including information about your participation and encouraging each to promote use of Cataract Free America® to their constituents.

  • Send a letter to all optometrists in your community extolling your participation in Cataract Free America® and the availability of these benefits to their patients.

  • Conduct joint interviews with members of your community's press.
